Ultimate Together is a new beginner-friendly adult pickup group forming in the Howell–Brighton area. Our first games are planned for May 2027 — and the people on the waitlist are the ones choosing the field and the night.

What is actually confirmed, and what is not
A lot of local sports pages imply more certainty than they have. Here is the honest version.

These are plans, not promises. The field, the schedule and the details depend on arrangements still being worked out. Everyone on the list hears about them first — including if something changes.

Close enough to make it a habit
A local group only works if getting there is easy after work. We are looking at fields in and around Howell and Brighton, which puts most of Livingston County within a short drive rather than a trek down the highway.
If you would travel from one of these towns, put your city or ZIP in the waitlist form. That is genuinely how the field and the night get chosen — there is no decision already made that we are pretending to consult you about.

What to expect
Your first session, start to finish
If you have never turned up to a pickup game before, the unfamiliar part is not the sport. It is not knowing what happens when you arrive.

You arrive on your own
No roster, no sign-up partner, no tryout. You park, you walk over, and someone says hello. Arriving alone is the normal way to come.

Someone shows you two throws
The backhand and the forehand. That is genuinely most of what you need. Ten minutes before play starts is enough to be useful in a game.

Teams get picked on the spot
Sides are made up from whoever showed up, and they change from week to week. Nobody is stuck on a losing team for a season.

You play, and people help you
There are no referees — players call their own fouls and sort disagreements out themselves. In practice that makes pickup unusually forgiving of beginners.

May 2027 is a long wait if you want to play this month. We would rather point you somewhere real than pretend we are your only option — and you can still be on our list for when local games start.

What people in Livingston County ask
Is there ultimate frisbee in Howell or Brighton right now?
Not a regular adult pickup group, which is the reason this one is starting. Until our first games in May 2027, the nearest established options are Ann Arbor and Metro Detroit — both linked above.
Where exactly will you be playing?
The field is not confirmed yet. We are looking in and around Howell and Brighton, and the choice depends partly on where people on the waitlist are travelling from. Anyone on the list is told as soon as it is settled.
What night will games be?
Also not set. The waitlist form asks which days work for you, and that is what the decision will be based on.
I am in my forties and not especially fit. Is this for me?
Yes. Pickup is played at the pace of whoever turns up, you substitute freely between points, and the game rewards reading the field more than sprinting. Adults of a wide range of ages and fitness levels play ultimate.
Do I need cleats or a special disc?
Not to start. Trainers on grass are fine for a first session, and there will be discs there. If you decide you like it, we have written up what to look for in cleats and which disc to buy.
Is it co-ed?
Yes — casual adult co-ed pickup, with mixed teams picked at each session.
What does it cost to join the list?
Nothing, and joining does not commit you to playing. Any cost attached to the sessions themselves will be announced before anyone is asked to sign up for anything.
I am outside Livingston County. Can I still come?
Of course. Put your city or ZIP in the form — if a cluster of people turn out to be coming from one direction, that genuinely affects which field makes sense.
